The Actuarial Society of Finland |

|
The Activities of the Society The duties of an actuary are characterized by a great social and economic responsibility, and in order to perform them with due care an actuary must be in possession of wide-ranging skills and an ability to apply advanced mathematical methods. The activities of the Actuarial Society of Finland aim at promoting the ability of Finnish actuaries to properly attend to these duties as individuals and as a profession. An essential element in the activities of the Society are the regular monthly meetings which aim at providing the members with an opportunity to maintain, by means of presentations and discussion, their professional skills. Information on the monthly meetings is provided in Finnish only. |

International Activities The Society participates in international actuarial activities on the one hand at the global level via the IAA, and on the other hand on European Union level via the Groupe Consultatif. The activities of international actuarial organizations are characterized by the same purpose as the activities on the national level, i.e. the aspiration to develop the profession and its individual members. The influence of international organizations greatly surpasses that of national organizations in cases where it is necessary to promote the actuarial viewpoint in developing statutes and standards affecting the insurance industry.
